Face Lift San Jose: The Recovery Period

What to Expect After Going Under the Knife

So, you’re planning to undergo a face lift. You’ve probably educated yourself about the ins and outs of the procedure and talked to your surgeon a thousand times. But do you know what to expect during the recovery period? Are you ready for the weeks that will come after the cosmetic surgery? Here’s what you should know.

Recovering After a Cosmetic Surgery

The recovery period usually lasts about 2-3 weeks. For the first two days, however, it is important that you stay in bed with your head elevated on a pillow to keep the swelling down. Have someone assist you whenever you have to get up to use the bathroom or whatnot. If you are in pain, ask your surgeon if you can take Ibuprofen.

Expect the swelling to go down after a few days. Usually, most patients can walk around after two days or so. However, don’t engage in physical activity for at least a week. You can return to work after 3 weeks and start strenuous activity like jogging, sports, etc. after 6 weeks.

Consult your doctor is you experience anything that bothers you. Good luck!
